5.1.1.3. Frank Edgar (Ed) Crum, born 14 Aug 1872 in a log cabin 1 1/2 miles northwest of Friendsville, IL; he
was 5 years old when his father died and 15 years old when his mother died. Ed died of pneumonia in
Marion, IL on 1 May 1944 at the age of 72 following a tragic accident in which his team ran over him as
he led them down a steep hill.- The wagon broke his back and neck and he lay in a cold puddle for many
hours before help arrived; Ed helped raise his two younger brothers, worked on the farm and went to
