was born 7 Dec 1927; Ernest taught school and was professor of Botany at North Carolina State
University 1954-1968 and chairman of biology at Western Kentucky University 1968-1978; among his many
awards include being an internationally recognized authority on aquatic and vascular plants, and being
elected a fellow in the American Association for the Advancement of Science; he published two books and
numerous research articles in many journals; Ernest died 31 Aug 1980 at the age of 52, buried Fairview
Cemetery, Bowling Green, KY; children, (
