Adam b.1903 in Nether Laggan, William Reid b. 1905 in Aikiebush; Sarah married 2ndly John McTier in 1912 and had 9 children in Aikiebush; John b. 1914, Jane Hamilton Reid b. 1916, Sarah Elizabeth b. 1918) The locations (not to scale) of the above stones in Terregles parish churchyard are entered in the diagram following. It should be noted by intending visitors who wish to read the inscriptions that to avoid disappointment it is best to choose mid-morning on a sunny day without any bright clouds to the north whose reflected light diminish the shadows cast by the engravings. A few bright clouds in the direction of the sun should be helpful provided they do not obscure it. A dull day is useless for some of the older stones, especially if they are horizontal, because without the shadows cast by a strong beam of light the inscriptions can be invisible. The same consideration applies if it is desired to take photographs, whether coloured or monochrome; a flashlight on the camera should never be used, but if it can be set from about the direction of the sun it could be a remarkable help, the camera being about 90 angle from the sun.
