6.8. THOMAS EDWIN, Andrew and Betsy's eighth child identified as "Tommy of Bone Gap" born 2 Oct 1854; married
30 Nov 1879. For many years he and Chester P. Corrie (above) (ref.
1.1.5.1.6.7.5.) were good friends and
never realized how they were related. (A letter from Alicia Beesley (ref.
1.1.5.4.6.6.2.) to Wallace Beals
(ref.
1.1.5.4.5.6.3.) dated 27 Aug 1925 gives a glimpse of a happy time: "Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Corrie were out
at the Schrader reunion (and) we had a very pleasant day... Then they were at church last Sunday and we all
took dinner with Cousin Newt Schrader. He insisted on my bringing them out to the BONE GAP CHOWDER so
yesterday Cousin Newt and daughter and Uncle Aaron (ref.
1.1.5.4.6.9.) and I started. It was a twenty-mile
trip with a turn at every cross-road. We got into new loose gravel and had two punctures in our tires but got
to the chowder in plenty of time to inspect the cooking. They had 25 big iron kettles buried in a trench
filled with hot coals. The kettles held 98 chickens and over 100 squirrels besides the beef and vegetables.
Dinner was free with a collection and there were games, stunts, speaking, and the band. We had a very pleasant
time and then went to Tommy's for melon and cake after."
