Several insulators are shown. Insulators only insulate up to a certain voltage then they start to break down and the electrical forces start to punch holes in them and change them physically and electrically. Most of these insulators are good at least to several 10's of thousands of volts. The square ceramic tile has scorch marks from an electrical arc on its surface. Glass, most ceramics and some plastics are good insulators.
